Karina O Connor Beauty by th Beach Ballybunion

From a young age, I had huge interest in beauty. I always wanted to apply makeup for my family and friends and experiment with new beauty products. After travelling and working in Australia I came home and took the plunge to set up my own business in 2003 at the young age of 23. The industry has developed a lot in recent years with the introduction of technology and marketing, more women are looking to their idols and willing to try out the latest trends.

Since a little girl I have always loved every aspect of beauty. I qualified as Beauty Therapist in 1998 and for first part of my career I was the Clarins Counter Manager in Ch Chemists, Tralee. In April 2009, Karina was looking for a part time Beauty Therapist and she asked me to join the team. It’s been the fastest 8 years working alongside her and the girls and I love every moment of work. It’s my sanity and it’s where I enjoy meeting clients and chatting to them. I do waxing, tinting, tanning,  lashes, facials, body treatments, pedicures and nails. It was a huge achievement of mine in December 2015 when I received my ITEC level 3 Diploma in Nail Technology.

I have been working as a beautician in Beauty By The Beach for 10 years, but have been in the industry for 20 years! I love all areas of being a Beauty Therapist. I think the most important aspect of my job is building up a good relationship with your client from the very first day they come to the salon. I am always retraining & sourcing the best of treatments e.g. Caci Non Surgical Face Lifting facial, Shellac nails, LVL lashes, Dermalogica & Neostrata products. The Beauty industry has changed so much in the last numbers of years with the onset of social media. So continuous training is a must in our profession, customers want to try the latest  products & treatments as soon as they are launched or advertised by bloggers etc.
